The importance to be real and to communicate our truth in relationships.
So, how do we do this? What and Who are We?
Through meditating on our inner selves, on the silence deep within, we can slowly (or quickly) get to know our true selves. This is sometimes harder and sometimes easier. As we get to know who we truly are inside we learn to express our inner truth. This in order to become more authentic and real with ourselves and each other.
While in a relationship, be it with a lover, friend, sibling, parent or co-worker, we learn certain patterns of what is okay and what is not okay for the particular relationship.
In order for us to become more aligned with our inner selves, thereby also being truer and more authentic to ourselves, we need to learn how to communicate with each other.
We need to learn non-violent communication. This kind of communication will help you in every single relationship in your life. It is an amazing thing to realize that you can actually start to express your true you and be accepted. If the recipient of your communication does not respond in a favorable way, at least you will know that there is nothing you can do to fix the problem, as you have expressed peacefully your truth.
This may mean that you are not compatible and will do better by moving on. Or it can imply that you and your partner need to learn new ways to listen and to communicate.
But it is of utmost importance that you learn to speak your truth.
This is something most of us have never been taught, have never practiced. We have learned how to play a role to get us what we want, or to not create any problems, (which also gets you what you want) and how to pretend to be someone or something we are not. This is a very serious issue and one that can lead you to lead a life in which you are never truly you.
This is a tragedy since we are wasting our lives away by playing a role that isn't real, which also leads to us feeling dishonest and like we don't really know our partner, since they don't know our true self.
If you want to feel authentic, real and true in your own home or at work, it is imperative to learn the skills of strong, honest, real and non-violent communication.
All the Best, Marcus
